Today's #OneGoodThing is 2 good things, both of them musical:
1. On the way to school yesterday, I had David Bowie playing in the car, and James asked me if Bowie had never been famous or never made music, if I would be a different person.
I teared up.
I told him that he was very insightful and that he was absolutely right. That Bowie's music and art are part of who I am. A small part, but an important one. And I would be a different person without it.
Then he asked me what Bowie taught the world and talked about creativity and reinvention and rejecting social rules that don't work.
2. Jayme and I went to the Peter Gabriel concert last night. Another artist whose work is part of who I am. I was blown away by Gabriel's creativity and invention and passion and curiosity and stage presence and collaborators and humor. It's the best concert I have been to in a long long long time. I teared up in the Fiserv Forum, too.
